Team supervision

Taking care of interpersonal relations

These are opportunities for a team to talk to each other, during working hours, to nurture interpersonal relationships, even when the team is doing well, because bonds need to be nurtured.

Why should you ask me to supervise your team?

  • The team has some difficult issues to bring to the table and prefers to have external support to tackle them. As the guarantor of a caring environment where everyone has their place, I lend my listening skills to increase the chances of participants understanding each other.
  • You are aware of the added value of these moments of relational hygiene in a team and how much they contribute to fluidity in communication and therefore to collaboration.
  • There's an accumulation of tension and unspoken words in the team.
  • Team members seem to be afraid to speak out in meetings. The level of rumour and gossip in the organisation is very high. People express themselves outside meetings, and away from the ears of their line managers.
  • We don't live the values we advertise externally: there's a big gap between the values the organisation advertises and the way we behave internally.
  • The mood is gloomy and people are turning in on themselves.
  • There are many cases of long and sometimes unexplained sick leave.

What it does

  • Team members reconnect and are often relieved to realise that they have more in common than they imagined.
  • It fosters hope and confidence, and often brings joy back into the structure.
  • It brings relaxation and a fresh impetus to working together.
  • It re-energises people and therefore projects.
  • This helps to resolve open or latent conflicts.
  • It helps you learn to dare to say things.

How does it work in practice?

  • The frequency of supervision and the way we work depend on each situation and the needs of each team.
  • To reap the benefits, a supervision process requires a minimum of three 2 to 3 hour sessions for a team of 8 to 10 people.
  • The sessions generally take place at the workplace, but can also be held in my studio in the centre of Berne, or in a third-party space set aside for the purpose.
  • I speak in French and English. Participants can also express themselves in German.
